We love the Gasiks!

Dave and Jennifer are family friends, Dave is my Godfather but we (Liv, Lis and I) think of them as an Aunt and Uncle-my Mom has been friends with them for as long as I can remember! They live outside of Chicago but as of a few years ago spend several weeks a year at their house in south Florida. A few weeks ago they were kind enough to make the drive up to Jacksonville to meet baby Jack. We had a great visit and we can't wait to see again soon. We love you guys!

Jack Richard Williams

Hi Everyone!
We are out of this world excited that our little baby Jack arrived on Friday September 5th at 6:00pm weighing 7lbs 14oz and 21 inches long!!! He is an angel!

The quick story on his delivery is that my water broke at home at 9am (while checking my email) Matt came home from work, we got some last minute things together and I was even able to relax, take a shower, blow dry my hair etc. I was having contractions, however they weren't too intense yet. We arrived at my OB at about 11:00 am and I was 4 cm dilated. They wheeled me over to labor and delivery and I was admitted. At about 12:30/1:00 my contractions got serious and that is when I feel like my labor really started. Dr. Long was on call that day, which was GREAT because I really liked him. He visited and checked on me a few times and at about 5:30 I started pushing. It was comforting that he was there when I first tried to push and he pretty much stayed with us until Jack was born at 6. My birth plan was to attempt a 100% natural birth and I'm happy to say that I was successful. I could NOT have done it without Matt. He was unbelievable! So loving and supportive. He was so much of my strength, he kept me going and was holding my hand and talking me through every contraction for all the hours! It was an intense experience but I wouldn't change a thing! Thank you to everyone who has called, emailed and "facebooked" to say congrats-we are thankful for all of the messages! Thank you to my two sisters and mom who made big sacrifices to be with us. Thank you Mom-for driving up-despite everything you've got going on-it meant so much! Thank you Lis for making it up to share those first days with us! To our best friend Jacquie and my loving sister Alivia who were both with us when Jack was born and were wonderful support-thank you! Thanx to Meg who "broke-into" my blog (my permission) to post those first pics of him for everyone who was waiting. And another thanks for the fabulous food and visit from you and your mom Lisa. Enjoy the new pics I've posted and I will continue to update the blog as much as possible. We are still trying to get acclimated to him and me to nursing him. We love you all so much!
We have God to thank for this amazing creation! I want to share one more thing with you. I have a daily calendar with inspirational quotes and scripture passages. I thought that the one for last Friday was perfect for the day he arrived:

"You are my God, and I will give thanks to You; you are my God, I will extol You. O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.
Psalm 118:28-29

Jack Richard is here safe, happy and healthy-God is Good!

Leaving for the Hospital..

I promise to put a baby on this blog soon!

I wonder how many more updates I'll post? Because I know what everyone really wants to see is a baby on this blog! :) I had a appointment on Tuesday...well, it was actually scheduled for Wednesday but I showed up a day early..opps. I was grateful they could squeeze me in because I was thrilled to hear that I am now 3 centimeters dilated and according to Dr. Friedman Jack's head is "very low" and she also informed me that she could see me coming back to the hospital that night...however it's now Wednesday evening and we all know that didn't happen!!! But we are staying patient and waiting for him to decide when the time is right. And we are praying that when that moment comes, God will be watching over us and that we will have a safe, happy and all around healthy delivery. More to come soon.

Love,
M, C & J
